I learned to ride a motorcycle when I was four years old. My grandfather propped me up on the tank of his Hodaka Ace 100 dirt bike and showed me how to use the controls. After some quick lessons he jumped off the back and yelled the words “Godspeed Boy!” I rode on and didn’t fall and have been hooked on riding ever since.

Over the course of the last several years, Godspeed was built by my friends and I to honor loved ones who are no longer here, but can still see us. Along the way I lost two of the very best men I have ever known. The very same friends who sacrificed so much to build a place to honor fallen loved ones have themselves, died. It is impossible for me to express how profoundly sorrowful it is to lose two friends who stood by me, believed in me and made my greatest dream come to life.

I know of no better way to honor them than to name the subject of our efforts together after them and to further a great charitable cause in their name. We will henceforth do exactly that to the best of our ability. Thus “Nate & Norton’s” is hereby born; not as a morose reminder of untimely death, but as a tribute to celebrate their life, loyal friendship and way of living.

And they did so in Oakland, a place of historical significance for the Rat Bike and the American V-Twin Chopper.
