Godspeed: A shop riders have only dreamt of

This tricked-out Godspeed Turbocharged Hayabusa...

was the fastest street bike at the 2007 SEMA show. Now that's sayin' somethin' – But the reason behind this particular build is even more impressive.

Doobie's Story

"Mickey" Fort first came to Godspeed Oakland early in 2007 to inquire about turbocharging a Suzuki Hayabusa. He had arranged to purchase a new 2006 model from a local dealer. We showed him our custom 2003 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 with dual NOS tanks and a Hahn Racecraft turbo system. He liked what he saw and proceeded to tell us the story of his son Doobie. Doobie was the innocent victim of a fatal shooting which occurred just blocks away from Godspeed.

Mickey and his son were avid performance motorcycle enthusiasts. They often day-dreamed together about one day building turbo sport bikes to carve up the beautiful back roads of the nearby Oakland hills. He wanted a 'Busa that was turbocharged, had custom wheels, an air-shifter and a paint scheme that would never let the world forget his son. That is exactly what we built for him. Mickey's only stipulation was that we had to have it done by the anniversary of Doobie's murder. He wanted this amazing motorcycle to centerpiece the party he was throwing to mark the somber occasion with his family and friends. When we delivered his new ride the day of the party, everyone surrounded the bike, taking in everything it was and represented; it then became very obvious to us how much this project had moved Mickey and his family.

We contacted Hahn Racecraft and informed them of the project. They were helpful right from the onset as usual. Hahn built the turbo system for us and had it in our shop in time for us to complete the install before Doobie's Anniversary party. Maurice's Pieces painted the body work and the amazing mural to Doobie's likeness. They also included two paint matched helmets. Performance Machine provided us the chrome Torque wheels and Pingel the electric shifter kit. All external fine-tuning was done via a Power Commander PCIII USB and Ignition Module in Godspeed's hyperbaric dynamometer chamber.
